Google Fiber – Super speed Browsing

I’m sure most of us curse the browsing speed (or download speed) we have at least 2 times a month.,… for those avid net freaks, I’m sure you always want more than what is available right now…

Guess what Google does it again… They are launching a service called Google fiber- whose main aim is to offer speeds of up to 1 Gbps… that’s 100 times faster than the American home connections and probably 500 times faster than my connection (OMG)….

This means downloading a 700mb video should take u a minimum of a few seconds and a maximum of a minute… (imagine that)…

They plan to role this out to select communities (in US i’m guessing)…

heres a clip on what its all about

Here’s what they describe their goals as

Our goal is to experiment with new ways to help make Internet access better and faster for everyone. Here are some specific things that we have in mind:

  • Next generation apps: We want to see what developers and users can do with ultra high-speeds, whether it’s creating new bandwidth-intensive “killer apps” and services, or other uses we can’t yet imagine.
  • New deployment techniques: We’ll test new ways to build fiber networks, and to help inform and support deployments elsewhere, we’ll share key lessons learned with the world.
  • Openness and choice: We’ll operate an “open access” network, giving users the choice of multiple service providers. And consistent with our past advocacy, we’ll manage our network in an open, non-discriminatory and transparent way.

Visit the Google Fiber Site and the google blog for more details on this project….

Personally i’m ready to move to the community chosen for this project!!!!
